About:

H. Frank Carey’s varsity football program teamed up with the Think Pink club to “Pink Out” for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Oct. 8. Not only did the team defeat Herricks, 21-14, the support from the team and the crowd for this event was incredible. The Dad’s Club graciously donated pink shirts commemorating the day, which helped raise more than $1,000. The Think Pink club will utilize the proceeds to help alleviate stresses in the lives of breast cancer patients and survivors.

This wonderful event was made possible through the combined efforts of the Think Pink Club, advised by Gina Samet, and the varsity football team led by Head Coach Mike Stanley.

“It was a great day for everyone to get the message out about breast cancer awareness and early detection, especially to our younger generations” Samet said. “The best protection is early detection.”

“The team embraced the opportunity to contribute to this great cause” Coach Stanley said. “The members of the team sold t-shirts before and after the event and wore the shirts in school to promote the occasion and awareness.”

A special thanks to all who collaborated and participated in what the school hopes to be the first of many successful “Pink Out” events.
